Welcome to the Pasadena Doo Dah Parade Official Website
Save the “DOO DAH” Date – Sunday, November 20th, 2022
Although our traditional DOO DAH PARADE will not be making its triumphant return as soon as we’d hoped for, fear not, because some thrilling changes are on the horizon that will be taking the DOO DAH back to its ROOTS in 2023!
The parade itself will be returning in 2023 to its original location in Old Town Pasadena and more shall be revealed on Doo Dah Day 2022 at The Old Towne Pub, as there we launch our preparations for THE GREAT DOO DAH RECLAMATION OF 2023!
Join us for a DOO DAH DAY full of freakish-ness, music, and stupid fun, as we chart our course into the next chapter in Doo Dah history! Stay tuned for more details…

Meet the 2021 Doo Dah Queens!
On November 21 at the “Doo Dah Happening” held at the Old Towne Pub, the Altadena Twirlers were crowned 2021 Doo Dah Queens!
Who Are the Altadena Twirlers?
By Anne Nowlin
During the Covid 19 shelter-in-place period of 2020 some folks learned to bake sourdough bread, others joined book exchanges while others worked on projects like cleaning out garages and basements. Some even learned how to twirl a baton.
This Altadenan had always dreamed of donning a pair of Majorette boots but sadly, never learned to twirl; until now! After watching YouTube and learning the basics of twirling I posted a selfie-video on Next door. The response was incredible; clearly, pandemic or not, Altadena needed a baton twirling group.
In late 2020, a group of twirl enthusiasts was formed and started baton practices on ZOOM. After several months of ZOOM we switched to (masked) practices at Farnsworth Park and the Altadena Twirlers were born!
Toni Gitter and Johanna Moore, co-captains, had marching band and tall flags experience. Paige Eaves twirled a wooden rifle for high school. Gail Campbell marched in her high school band but Stetson, her service dog, was new to this. With one year to prepare, our mission was established. We would be good enough to twirl in the 2021 Doo Dah Parade.
Our first public appearance was the afternoon of Altadena’s Town and Country Club fireworks show. Neighbors in the area have parties on their front lawns to watch the fireworks, so we had a captive audience and twirled for the residents of Meadowbrook Road. It was a dress rehearsal for a real parade; a few days later we marched in the Sierra Madre 4th of July Parade. Since then our membership has grown. Katie Ipekjian, Valerie Villatoro, and Zinnia Barrero joined the team and helped prepare for our ultimate challenge.
In November, we entered the contest of our dreams; Doo Dah Queen auditions. Judged by the Doo Dah Preservation Society, we performed our now famous routine to Abba’s Dancing Queen. Patrons of Pasadena’s Old Towne Pub cheered us on to become the 2021 Doo Dah Queens! Public health restrictions had shut down the parade, but not the Doo Dah spirit.
For December performances, we added bells to our boots and twirled for two of Altadena’s adult care facilities. One home for seniors and the other for men with developmental disabilities. They enjoyed our performance to Sleigh Ride by the Ronnettes! Performing for home care facilities will be a focus for us this year. We also plan to twirl in Altadena parades, at neighborhood gatherings, and maybe some Farnsworth Park summer concert nights, too. And, we hope to expand our team!
If you are interested in learning to twirl or joining the team check out Altadena Twirlers or Beautiful Altadena (official) on Facebook for practice dates. Everyone is welcome!

Doo Dah Parade dubs playwright/director, musician, Juli Crockett as its 2015 Grand Marshal!
The Pasadena Doo Dah Parade has selected renaissance woman, Juli Crockett, to lead this year’s 38th Occasional Parade. Consider the fact she’s a singer, songwriter, playwright, theater director, undefeated professional boxer and amateur champion, and leader of an alt-country/Americana genre-defying band and you’ll get the picture. Don’t forget to add Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Communications to her resume. Doo Dah organizers say “Juli is a fierce and brilliant artist who embodies the spirit of our event!”
